Yugoslavia - 1964.

Yugoslavia took part in the Games with 76 athletes in nine sports
(athletics, water polo, rowing, gymnastics, canoe/kayak, basketball,
swimming, water polo, football) and ranked 19th on the medal-winning
nations list with a total of five medals (2 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze).
Medallists were Miroslav Cerar (a gold and a
bronze), Branislav Simić (a gold),
the men’s water polo team (a silver) and
Branko Martinović (a bronze).
The first Yugoslav wrestling gold was won by Branislav Simić (87 kg),
the last athlete invited to the national wrestling team. The coach’s
reluctance had been a result of Simić’s failures in Melbourne (1956) and
Rome (1960).
Thanks to Miroslav Cerar, the Yugoslav gymnastics returned to winning
Olympic medals after 28 years (Štukelj, 1936).
