Ivan Ćurković

Born in Mostar on 15 March 1944.
Secondary education - Technical School of Architecture in Mostar. BA, Faculty of Physical Culture, University of Belgrade. Speaks French.

SPORTSMAN
Began to practise football as a goalkeeper in 1960 in football club Velež from Mostar appearing in 220 matches.
From 1964 to 1972 played for Partizan Football Club, was a captain for four seasons and played in 419 matches.
From 1972 to 1982 played for France’s Saint Etienne, was a captain for three seasons and appeared in 512 official matches.
Had 23 appearances for the Yugoslav national football team from 1964 to 1972.
Played a total of 1,190 matches in 22 years without ever being shown a yellow or a red card.

TROPHIES

  • The Yugoslav Champions title (1964/1965) and the European Champion Clubs Cup final in 1966 with Partizan.
  • A four-time French Champion, a three-time French Cup Champion and the European Champion Clubs Cup final in 1976 with Saint Etienne.
  • Competed in the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo as a member of the Yugoslav national team, and won the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games in 1974.

COACH

  • Coached France’s national team goalkeepers (1974 – 1976).
  • Coached young goalkeepers in Vichy, sports centre of the French Football Federation (1976 – 1979).
  • Advisor and assistant manager of the French national team (1981/1982).
  • Member of the Head Coaches Committee of the Football Federation of Yugoslavia (2001).

SPORTS WORKER

  • Member of the General Assembly of the Yugoslav Olympic Committee (1985).
  • Vice-president of Partizan Yugoslav Sports Association (1987).
  • Current president of Partizan Football Club since 1989 (five consecutive mandates).
  • Member of the International “Pierre de Coubertin” Committee (1990).
  • Founder (1992) and current president of the National Committee “Pierre de Coubertin”.
  • Member of the Executive Board of the Yugoslav Football Association (two terms of office: 1997 and 2001).
  • Member of the FIFA Technical Committee (two terms of office: 1998 and 2002).
  • Member of the Executive Board of the Yugoslav Olympic Committee and the Olympic Committee of Serbia and Montenegro (2001).
  • Member of the Technical Commission of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (2002), vice-president (2003), member of the Executive Board of the Mediterranean Games (2005).
  • Vice-president of the Olympic Committee of Serbia and Montenegro and acting president of the Olympic Committee of Serbia and Montenegro (2005).
  • President of the Olympic Committee of Serbia (the Olympic Committee of Serbia and Montenegro) since 7 March 2006.
  • President of the FIFA Sub-committee for Stadium Safety since 13 March 2006.

PROFESSIONAL

  • Director of the Public Relations Department for France and abroad with S.A. SIGOUR FRERES (1982 – 1986).
  • Director of the Public Relations Department for France and the Third World countries with S.A. STIMEX (1986 – 1991).
  • Assistant manager of the Sales, Research and Monitoring Department for the Eastern countries and the countries of ex-Yugoslavia with C.B.C. from Paris (1991).
  • President of the Administrative Council of the mixed Italian-Yugoslav company IMPRELKO-IMPREGILO (1995).

HONOURS

  • Gold Medal and title of the Honorary Citizen of Saint Etienne (1981).
  • Gold Medal awarded by the Ministry for Youth and Sports (1984).
  • National Order of Merit awarded by the President of France (1987).
  • Honorary Consul of the Seychelles in Serbia and Montenegro (2000).
