WINTER OLYMPIC GAMES PARTICIPANTS
(classified by sports)
The Yugoslav athletes participated in 16 out of 19 Winter Olympic
Games. The Lake Placid Games of 1932 were skipped due to high costs and
lengthy journey and the fact that the athletes’ quality did not promise
notable results. The next Games held in the USA, the 1960 Games in Squaw
Valley were missed for the same reasons, while the sanctions prevented
Yugoslav athletes from qualifying for the 1994 Albertville Games in
1994.
At the Turin Games in 2006 our athletes will compete for the first time
in the Winter Games as the representatives of Serbia and Montenegro.
A total of 243 athletes took part in the Winter Olympic Games and
recorded 319 participations in 7 sports.
